Shape the future of Elgin
Saturday, May 27th, 2023 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Elgin locals have an opportunity to help shape the future of Elgin. Moray Council officers are inviting locals to contribute to the development of the new Moray Local Development Plan that will guide the usage of land and buildings for the next 10 to 20 years. This plan will significantly impact everyday life in Elgin, affecting aspects such as work, travel, access to green spaces, recreation, and health.
To facilitate this important discussion, a drop-in exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Elgin Town Hall on Saturday, May 27th, from 10am to 3pm. Locals are encouraged to share their ideas and vision for the development of not only Elgin but the wider Moray region.
The exhibition will seek input on various topics, including ideas for improving Elgin, potential sites for new housing, thoughts on rejuvenating the town centre, and broader Moray issues such as climate change and infrastructure delivery. Two facilitated sessions, to take place at 11am and 2pm, will be held with council officers to map out these ideas.
This event in Elgin is part of a series, following successful consultations in Forres, Aberlour, and Dufftown. Further discussions will be held in Lossiemouth on June 17th, Fochabers on June 22nd, and Buckie on August 26th.
The gathered feedback will be invaluable in shaping the Local Development Plan 2027, set to serve as a developmental blueprint for the entire Moray region. The “Shape the Future of Elgin” event will also feature representatives from the Moray Growth Deal projects, including Early Years STEM, who will be presenting family-friendly STEM activities. Children will be able to explore the latest STEM digital technology, including augmented reality and robot coding. Fun construction challenges and science investigations will also be available for all family members.
It is critical to make your voice heard, for the sake of the future of our area.
